What you get
The Society wants your support. This is what you give when you join us. We value it.
Members receive up to four newsletters per annum. These keep members in touch with what the committee of the Society is doing on their behalf and often form a useful discussion point for visiting friends.
The newsletter often provides a considered explanation of what may have become an all out political argument – the Society is usually pressing for a sensible outcome – always with the interests of the town foremost on its agenda.
An example newsletter, from January 2009 can be read by clicking here.
From time to time, the Society will call meetings to consider important issues that face the town. There is an annual general meeting every year.
For those who want to be more active, then membership of the committee is a possibility. These members will devote more time to the Society and may be expected to undertake writing letters or to meet with councillors from time to time. If you want to play an active part, please contact any members of the committee.
Members can always sit in on a committee meeting to see how discussions proceed. All they have to do is contact the Society by clicking on the tab “Contact us”.
The Society can often put members in touch with others who may be able to help them over a particular local issue.
