The Society monitors developments and changes in the Garden City and, where it is appropriate, it comments on the proposals – thereby adding a non political and non commercial view to what may otherwise be a flawed proposal.
The Society also seeks to monitor planning applications to ensure that these follow the planning authority’s own strategies, guidelines and policies and that outcomes are, so far as possible, in keeping with the architecture and feeling of the town.
The Society also watches the way the town is maintained and raises issues from time to time with both County and Borough authorities that often get overlooked by political parties and which residents themselves feel are too big for single individuals to pursue.
The Society supports local groups and residents that want to improve aspects of the town for the good of all. It comments on local issues from time to time and will hold public meetings when this is felt to be appropriate.
Society members receive a quarterly newsletter and all residents can read the Minutes of the regular meetings of the Committee. The latter are posted at the library at Campus West.
